  • How do I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation by contacting or visiting the facility where the unit is reserved.

  • What unit sizes do you have? How much space do I need?

Our smallest size spaces are our Lockers units which measure 5’x5’x5’. Our standard sizes range from 5’x5’ to 10’x30’ with 10’ high ceilings. Some facilities offer extra large units up to 650 square feet with up to 16’ high ceilings for Boat, RV or Business storage . We will help you select the right size to fit your needs. • What is Climate Controlled Storage?

Climate controlled is a feature we offer at all of our storage facilities. Our climate controlled units maintain a temperature of approximately 65-77 degrees. This feature helps protect your stored items from extreme temperatures. Our climate controlled facilities are housed in an indoor finished building where dirt and dust are less likely to penetrate. This type of environment is ideal for storing furniture, photographs, electronics, artwork, and other items.

  • What is a drive-up unit?

A drive-up unit is accessed from the outside and is located on the first floor, similar to a garage. It has a roll-up door and its own loading area. These units provide easy loading access and are ideal for storing large, heavy items as you have the ability to load directly from a vehicle.

  • What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

Indoor units are climate controlled units and are located inside a building on the property. Some indoor units are located in multi-story buildings with large elevator access and wide hallways. Outdoor units are not climate controlled and are on the ground level, they have the convenience of drive-up access.

  • What is a roll-up door?

Roll-up doors are the most common door in self-storage. Roll-up doors are like garage doors, they roll up overhead for easy access. They are wider than swing doors, and allow you to maximize the usage of your storage space.

  • Do you provide locks? Do you keep a key to my storage unit?

Proguard Storage provides you with a free high security “Enforcer” cylinder lock and three keys. No one else has a key to that lock – only you. Each lock has its own unique serial number and is registered. These locks are similar to the locks used by many coin-op, gaming and vending industries.

  • What does “On-site” manager mean?

“On-site” manager means that an employee, usually the store manager, has an apartment on-site as part of the facility. This offers added security for the protection of your belongings while in storage.

  • I pre-paid and need to move out sooner than I thought. Will I get a refund?

If you made advance payments on your account and need to move out before you anticipated, we will refund your pre-paid rent in full month increments. We cannot pro-rate a refund for a partial month. For example, if you pre-paid through March and you move out on Feb 15, we will refund your payment for March.

  • How do I move out?

We request that you give us at least 10 day notice before your intended move-out date. The move out process is easy: just empty your storage unit and remove your lock. Return your lock and three keys to the office during business hours. We’ll close out your account on the spot. This is very important, since a lock on your unit indicates you are still occupying the unit, your rental agreement will be renewed and your account charged.

  • How can I make a Payment?

Many customers prefer our automatic credit card payment option because of how convenient it is. You can enroll at your storage facility or online in My Account . We’ll automatically deduct your monthly charges from a credit card or debit card, saving you the trouble of mailing in a check. Other payment options include mailing a check, paying in person at your Proguard Self Storage office or paying right here on our website at My Account. We also offer prepayment specials. The choice is yours!

  • When are payments due?

It depends on your storage facility. Some facilities are setup for 1st of month and some facilities are setup for anniversary. Customers will have a 7 day grace period before a late fee is assessed. Should payment be more than 26 days late, the account enters a "lien" status in which additional fees are posted to cover associated legal expenses, etc. and the unit contents will be seized. Once an account is in "lien" status all payments must be made in full at the facility office with cash, money order, or certified check. Refer to your lease or storage facility for further details.
