Beer Brewers in Houston

Top Beer Brewers You Absolutely Must Visit In Houston

If you love a great craft beer, you’ll be glad to know that we here at Proguard have discovered that Houston is home to some of the absolutely best beer breweries not just in the Lone Star State, but in fact the United States. Whether you are looking for a beer with a smooth, mild taste or one that nearly knocks you off your feet with that first sip, you can find all of this and much more once you start touring some local breweries. Now that you know what’s out there waiting for you, here are our recommendations for which breweries you need to pay a visit to in the weeks ahead.

Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company

Located in Sawyer Yards, Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company is easily our top choice for what should be the very first brewery you visit here in Houston. Known for their creativity, the folks at Buffalo Bayou come up with all kinds of interesting concoctions, including their Banana Foster ale, Creamsicle, and a thick, bold malt known as Smoke on the Bayou. In addition to the brewery itself, you can also enjoy an on-site restaurant that offers great pizza and appetizers, all the while hanging out on the rooftop party area to catch stunning views of the Houston skyline.

8th Wonder Brewery

Giving Buffalo Bayou a run for its money, 8th Wonder Brewery is also one of our favorites. Known primarily for its lighter ales, many of which have Houston-themed names, 8th Wonder also has many beers on its list that have been created in collaboration with local rappers such as Bun B and Slim Thug. Once you make your selection and decide to stay for a while, you can head out to the brewery’s beer garden and admire the sculptures created by Houston artist David Adickes.

Eureka Heights Brew Company

If you’ve just spent the day with family or friends doing something fun like having a softball game or throwing a frisbee in the park, you need to end your day with stopping by Eureka Heights Brew Company. Always innovative, the craft brewers at Eureka have quite a reputation for their cream ales, especially their creations Buckle Bunny and IPA Mini Boss. However, if you really want to try some crazy beer while you’re in The Heights, take a stab at such options as Stun Gravy and Nuke the Whales. A brewery known for having an offbeat sense of humor, you never know what you may find at Eureka.

Great Heights Brewing Company

Should you be like many of us here at Proguard and consider yourself to be a bona fide beer geek, you’ll love the offerings and the atmosphere at Great Heights Brewing Company. Found in the Garden Oaks-Oak Forest area, this place is willing to try anything and everything when it comes to beer. If you are scanning the various selections and are having trouble making up your mind, we suggest the Galactic Fruitier Pellets brew. Described as hazy and hoppy, that’s probably how you’ll feel after drinking a glass or two. But before you get too hazy, don’t forget to try out the beanbag toss on the back patio, and also the Thursday night trivia games.
