If you love great beer and are looking for something to do on an upcoming weekend, visit one of the many great breweries here in Houston. In fact, you should mark your calendar for January 24, which just happens to be Beer Can Appreciation Day. Like us, you’ll definitely want to celebrate this special day by visiting a local brewery. But with so many great ones here in Houston, you may be having a hard time picking out some to put on your list. To help you out and make sure you celebrate Beer Can Appreciation Day in style, here are some of our brewery recommendations for your consideration.

SpindleTap Brewery

Found in North Houston, SpindleTap Brewery is one of our favorites here at Proguard. Not only do we like the lineup of creative brews that always seem to be changing, but we also love the fact that this brewery features a Frisbee golf course and basketball court. Famous for its “Hazy Collection” that features the very popular orange-juice colored Houston Haze, you’ll fall in love with SpindleTap Brewery and all it offers.

True Anomaly Brewing Company

Although this brewery only opened its doors in 2019, True Anomaly Brewing Company has wasted little time in becoming one of Houston’s most popular places for those who love great beer. Always up on the latest trends in craft brewing, True Anomaly features some of the best brewery creations in all of Houston. Here at Proguard, many on our team love the Truffula, which is a beer that features sour mango and passion fruit, making it taste like a malty cider. Many people also like Trappist-1, which resembles classic Belgian beer and has a dry hoppy taste.

Eureka Heights Brew Company

If you’ve gone to some breweries in the past that you thought might be a little too uppity for your liking, we urge you to celebrate Beer Can Appreciation Day by visiting Eureka Heights Brew Company. Located at 941 West 18th, Eureka Heights and its owners don’t take themselves too seriously, and that’s a good thing. As for the beers, you can try, the Buckle Bunny cream ale is always sassy and tastes great. Also, we like Moo Caliente, which features a combo of cayenne and cinnamon milk stout. While you’re enjoying your beer, partake in a round of “The Office” trivia, get something to eat from the brewery’s food truck, and make a few new friends along the way.

B-52 Brewing Company

A brewery that is a little more out of the way, B-52 Brewing Company is located on seven acres of prime Texas backcountry in Conroe. Though it’s on the very edges of Houston, this brewery gives those breweries in the heart of the city a run for their money. If you want to visit this brewery, sit by a fire, and enjoy a great beer while you’re there, we suggest you try Szechuan Sauce, a dry-hopped pale ale that is currently all the rage with many lovers of craft beer. With a beer crew that is known for its creativity, you’ll never know what you may find next at B-52.

When you do, you’ll find more beer varieties than you ever realized existed, and also plenty of friendly people along the way. From us here at Proguard, Happy Beer Can Appreciation Day!
