Houston is the best city in the United States, so it’s no wonder we have some of the best holiday happenings around. Whether you’re looking for great holiday festivals, plays, or concerts, we have it all right here in Houston. Who needs snow when we have great holiday celebrations?

Get Yourself in a Festive Mood

You won’t be saying “Bah humbug!” when you check out our local festivals. We don’t need snow when it comes to being festive for the holidays. Check out our Festival of Lights which is the Gulf Coast’s premier light festival with over a million lights brightening Galveston Bay. Enjoy ice-skating, a 100-foot slide, and amazing animated displays complete with sound. Santa Claus will be there too, so be sure to get your picture taken with him. The Festival of Lights runs from November 14 through January 10.

Don’t feel like going to Galveston? We also have Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo from November 20 through January 9. You’ll see plenty of lights, life-sized animated sculptures, and amazing colorful projections.

Enjoy Performances

What gets you in the holiday spirit better than seeing holiday plays and performances? A favorite of ours is Charles Dickens’ story, A Christmas Carol. From  November 20 through December 28, the Alley Theatre has nightly performances of A Christmas Carol — A Ghost Story of Christmas.

But what is the holiday season without The Nutcracker? Houston ballet presents the charming story of The Nutcracker. You’ll be enchanted as the magical toy whisks us away to a magical place. The Nutcracker is playing every day from November 27 through December 27 at the Wortham Theater Center.

If you’re looking for concerts to put you in the holiday spirit, the Houston Chamber Choir offers Christmas at the Villa on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13. Get your tickets soon because the shows tend to sell out fast. Held at the Chapel of Villa de Matel, you can join many of us Houstonians in the celebration of Christmas. Listen to favorite carols and songs you grew up with as well as new music to celebrate the season.

All of us at Houston Mini Storage wish you and your family a joyous holiday season!
