Texas boasts many claims to fame, ranging from our proud heritage as an independent country to our local festivals, and the wine industry in Texas has grown to become another key talking point of the Lone Star State.
Central Texas Vineyards
The drought of 2011 brought forth a plague to wine producers across the state, but improvements in irrigation techniques and the fortune of a wetter 2013 and 2014 combined to reinvigorate the Central Texas wine producers. Even with the low harvest levels in 2012 and 2013, the demand for Texas-made wine continued to grow, and the current demand shows no signs of slowing. The greatest problem with all of these wines in Texas has led to common problem: where do we find a place dedicated to wine storage.
Wine on the Llano Estacado
In Lubbock, there are more than 30 local wine producers, and people crave the taste of Llano Estacado wines across the state. The Lubbock region produces more grapes each year than any other area in the state. While many of these producers catered to the demands of local restaurants and populations in West Texas, these wines have made their way into the heart of San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and of course, Houston. In fact, Texas Custom Wine Works, located less than 20 minutes from Lubbock in Brownfield, opened its doors in 2013 as the first custom grape crushing facility in the Southeastern United States.
The Demand for Wine Storage
Although all Texans would love to have a wine cellar in the basement, we simply do not have the space, but several wine storage facilities have opened to give us our own personal wine cellar. The nature of every bottle of wine in Texas, especially those Texas Wine Works, demands care and attention during storage, and one Houston wine storage facility guarantees security, a monitored temperature, and a back up power supply when Texas storms cause power issues.
The Texas wine industry shows no signs of slowing down, and the need to keep Texas wine in a secure, climate controlled area has never been more important. Whether you want to taste the hills of Central Texas or the legendary music of Lubbock, you need a place to store your Texas wines.
